Contrarian thinking subverts violence
Peter Thiel is an American entrepreneur and venture capitalist who co-founded PayPal and was its CEO. He is president of Clarium, the global macro hedge fund manager. He was the first outside investor in Facebook, the popular social-networking site, and serves on the company’s board of directors. As a college student at Stanford University, Thiel advocated strongly for diversity of opinion and against speech restrictions, resolving to devote his life to combating oppression and advancing freedom through business, philanthropy, and writing. He is an avid supporter of the Committee to Protect Journalists, which promotes the right of journalists to report the news freely without fear of reprisal. He also sponsors the Seasteading Institute, Imitatio, and the Thiel Foundation. He is a founding contributor to the Oslo Freedom Forum. Share
