L. Craig Johnstone | L. Craig Johnstone is the deputy high commissioner for the UNHCR, where his primary function is to manage one of the worlds largest humanitarian groups; the UNHCR provides aid to more than 32 million refugees worldwide. Prior to his appointment to the UNHCR in April of 2007, Johnstones work included a stint at the US Agency for International Development working with Vietnamese refugees, and multiple positions with the US State Department. His service at the State Department included acting as coordinator with the UN General Assembly and later as US ambassador to Algeria in the late 1980s. Johnstone brings more than four decades of international experience as a diplomat, businessman, and human rights advocate to his current role at United Nations.
